The Milton Keynes Project | Richard Chivers
Postcards from Milton Keynes
Over the years the New Town of Milton Keynes has often been derided as a soulless ‘Non Place’, but recently as it reaches its 50th anniversary there has been a more widespread appreciation from architects and critics alike, of its bold ambitions of town planning and modernist architecture.
Richard Chivers was interested in capturing the architecture of some of the first areas to be built on the grid system that has come to define the town. Primarily focusing on the Modernist architecture of the central area and the prefabricated housing of the Netherfield Estate. Richard was interested in capturing how it has changed over the years and how some of the residents that occupy these particular spaces interact with their surroundings.
